AntiMap

Server-side anti-minimap for Paper 1.21+.

Stops minimap and X-ray style client mods from giving players an unfair advantage — without touching a single client. Everything happens server-side, in the packets your server was already sending.

Features

  • Chunk block obfuscation — hidden blocks (ores, chests, spawners) are replaced with decoys in outgoing chunk packets before minimap mods ever see them
  • Three obfuscation engines — pick between a fixed decoy per area, a fully random pick per block, or a random pick per Y-layer, trading off noise against uniformity
  • Exposed-block awareness — a block is only obfuscated if nothing within its neighbor radius is already visible, so legitimately-exposed ores stay untouched
  • Entity-radar mitigation — reduces what radar-style minimap mods can detect about nearby entities
  • Minimap-mod channel detection — flags players whose client registers known minimap plugin messaging channels
  • Bypass permissions — exempt trusted staff from obfuscation or radar hiding individually

Commands

Command Description
/antimap reload Reload the configuration
/antimap status Show current AntiMap status
/antimap check <player> Check a player's bypass flags, hidden-radar count, and flagged channels
/antimap toggle <obfuscation|radar|detection> Toggle a subsystem at runtime (persists to config)

Alias: /amap

Permissions

Permission Default Description
antimap.status op View AntiMap status
antimap.reload op Reload the configuration
antimap.check op Inspect a player's AntiMap state
antimap.toggle op Toggle subsystems at runtime
antimap.admin op Grants all of the above
antimap.bypass.obfuscate false See real blocks, bypassing chunk obfuscation
antimap.bypass.radar false See all entities, bypassing radar mitigation

Configuration highlights

  • obfuscation.engine-mode — 1 (fixed decoy per area, depth-aware), 2 (random per block), or 3 (random per Y-layer)
  • obfuscation.update-radius — neighbor radius used for the "is this block exposed to air" check
  • obfuscation.hidden-blocks — the exact material list to obfuscate (ores, spawners, chests, etc. by default)

Setup

  1. Drop AntiMap.jar into your server's plugins/ folder.
  2. Restart the server.
  3. Adjust obfuscation.hidden-blocks and engine-mode in config.yml to taste, then /antimap reload.

Requirements & compatibility

  • Server: Paper 1.21+ (Purpur works).
  • Java: 21 or newer.
  • Optional soft-depends: ProtocolLib, ProtocolSupport, ViaVersion, ViaBackwards, ViaRewind, Geyser-Spigot — AntiMap runs without them, but detects and adapts to cross-version and Bedrock clients when present.

AntiMap is open-source and MIT-licensed.
