AssassinEvent

Turn your Minecraft server into an assassination competition!

AssassinEvent is a Minecraft server plugin that creates a multiplayer assassin event. Each participant receives a random target, and players must hunt their assigned targets while competing to earn the most kills.

Whether you're hosting a small event with friends or running a larger Minecraft server, AssassinEvent provides a simple way to organize a competitive PvP challenge.

Features

  • Random target assignment — participants are randomly connected into a circular hunting chain.
  • Offline player support — start an event with players who have joined your server before, even if they are currently offline.
  • Online-only mode — start an event using only currently online players.
  • Custom participant selection — choose exactly which players participate.
  • Live target tracking — see your target's name, distance, and online status in the action bar.
  • Kill tracking — earn points for player kills during the event.
  • Target inheritance — eliminate your assigned target to inherit their target.
  • Participant management — skip players who cannot participate and automatically transfer their target.
  • Event leaderboard — check participants, targets, kills, and online status.
  • Winner rewards — configure a reward item for the winner.
  • Admin commands — manage and control events directly in-game.

Commands

Command Description
/assassin start Start with all known players
/assassin start online Start with online players only
/assassin start <players> Start with selected players
/assassin stop End the event
/assassin end End the event
/assassin skip <player> Remove a participant and transfer their target
/assassin list View participants, targets, kills, and online status
/assassin reward set Set the winner's reward using the item in your hand

How it works

  1. Start an event using the desired participant selection.
  2. The plugin randomly assigns each participant a target.
  3. Track your target using the action bar.
  4. Kill your assigned target to score a kill and inherit their target.
  5. At the end of the event, the player with the most kills wins.

Installation

  1. Download the plugin JAR file.
  2. Place it in your server's plugins folder.
  3. Restart your server.
  4. Run /assassin start to begin an event.

Requirements

  • Server software: Paper
  • Minecraft version: 1.21 or newer intended; exact compatibility requires testing.
  • Java: Java 21 for Minecraft 1.21 Paper servers.
  • Minimum participants: 2 players.

Purpur compatibility is not independently tested. Spigot compatibility is not guaranteed.

Important notes

The default start mode includes every player known to the server, including players who are offline. Offline targets cannot be killed until they reconnect, so administrators can use /assassin skip <player> to keep the event moving.

The current build has not been verified on a live Paper server. Offline winner rewards and event persistence across restarts are not fully implemented.

Permissions

  • assassin.admin — administrative commands; normally granted to server operators by default.
