Crow Buddy is a vanilla-plus Fabric mod that introduces a tameable Crow entity to Minecraft. Crows are intelligent, independent companions with unique behaviors:
- Tame them with Black Oil Sunflower Seeds — a rare bonus drop from sunflowers. Feed them seeds to heal, but beware: chocolate poisons them.
- Swarm intelligence — attack a crow and nearby crows will join the fight. Tamed crows fiercely defend their owner.
- Scavenge items like Allays, with a preference for shiny objects like gold, diamonds, and netherite.
- Sit and stay — right-click to toggle. Sitting crows become neutral and abandon combat.
- Breed and nest — after breeding, a parent builds a temporary nest in nearby trees. The nest incubates, hatches, and produces a baby crow.
- Natural spawning in overworld land biomes. Designed to feel at home in a vanilla world. Requires Fabric API and GeckoLib. Must be installed on both client and server.
AI usage disclosure:
- LLMs were used heavily in development. However, LLMs were not involved in defining mod intent, behavior planning, or in generating ideas.
- Majority of project structure and implementation was created using open-weights agentic models running locally on llama.cpp.
- Creation of textures and behavior implementation created using closed-weights agentic models.
