dAnnouncements

Scheduled, eye-catching announcements for the important stuff.

Requires Paper 1.21+ (or a Paper fork) and Java 21. PlaceholderAPI is optional.

WHAT IT DOES

Most broadcast plugins are built for a rotating list of tips on a timer. This one is for the announcements you actually want people to notice: a map wipe, an event going live, a patch drop. Each announcement can hit chat, title, actionbar, bossbar and a sound at the same time, and can be scheduled for a real date rather than "every 15 minutes".

FEATURES

  • Five schedule types: interval, daily (with as many clock times per day as you want), weekly, monthly, or one specific date.
  • Timezone-aware. Set a Java ZoneId in config.yml or just follow the server clock.
  • On-join announcements, with an optional delay so yours lands after everyone else's join spam. Can exclude ops or anyone with a given permission.
  • Five delivery channels per announcement: chat, title/subtitle, actionbar, bossbar, sound. Enable any combination.
  • Clickable links written in markdown-ish syntax. Plain URLs get linkified on their own.
  • Click-to-teleport links, and click-to-run-command links that run as the clicking player with their own permissions.
  • MiniMessage formatting, plus old-school & color codes if that's what your fingers do.
  • Auto-centered chat lines with configurable borders.
  • PlaceholderAPI support in every line, per-player.
  • Per-announcement permission node so you can send something to donors only.
  • "once" mode: fires, then disables itself.
  • Edit everything in-game, or hand-edit the YAML and reload.

LINK SYNTAX

Put these straight in an announcement line:

[teleport to spawn](tp:world,0.5,65,0.5,0,0) teleports the clicker
[read the rules](cmd:/rules) runs a command as the clicker

Bare URLs (https://..., www...) get turned into clickable links automatically. If a line already has a manual <click:...> tag, the line is left alone.

COMMANDS

Base command is /dannouncements, aliased to /da.

/da help List commands you can use /da list All announcements at a glance /da info Full detail + next scheduled run /da create New announcement (starts disabled) /da remove Delete it /da toggle Enable / disable /da force [player] Send it now, to everyone or one player /da line list Show the lines /da line add <text...> Append a line /da line set <text...> Replace a line /da line insert <text...> Insert at a position /da line remove Delete a line /da join <on|off|delay> [seconds] Configure the on-join trigger /da tp [yaw] [pitch] Self-teleport (used by tp: links) /da reload Reload config + announcements

Line indexes start at 1.

PERMISSIONS

dannouncements.command default: true Use the base command dannouncements.tp default: true Self-teleport via tp: links dannouncements.admin.reload default: op dannouncements.admin.list default: op dannouncements.admin.info default: op dannouncements.admin.create default: op dannouncements.admin.remove default: op dannouncements.admin.toggle default: op dannouncements.admin.force default: op dannouncements.admin.line default: op dannouncements.admin.join default: op

/da tp is self-only and coordinates-only. It can't target other players and takes no entity selectors, which is why it's safe to leave on for everyone.

GETTING STARTED

  1. Drop the jar in /plugins and restart.
  2. Open plugins/dAnnouncements/announcements.yml. Four commented examples are in there, all disabled: a daily update notice, a welcome-on-join message, a one-shot map wipe warning, and a multi-time event reminder.
  3. Edit one to taste, then /da reload and /da toggle .

Or build one from scratch in-game: /da create myannouncement, then /da line add, then /da toggle.

NOTES

  • Editing an announcement in-game rewrites announcements.yml from memory, which strips comments out of that file. Hand-editing plus /da reload keeps them.
  • On update, new top-level sections in config.yml get appended to your existing file so your settings survive.
  • Use it however you like.
