Decorations

• Graveyard: 26 graves, tombs and angel statues, a mausoleum front, crypt gate and door, cemetery fences and lamps.
• Pumpkin patch: patches, stacks, jack o'lantern towers and lights, six pumpkin heads, a harvest cart, a pumpkin carriage and throne.
• Witch's corner: a witch cauldron, potion shelves, an herb rack, a crystal ball, a tarot table and a spell book lectern.
• Gothic manor: a four-poster bed, a haunted wardrobe and portraits, a cobweb chandelier, the Thirteenth Hour clock and a chair you can sit on.
• Creepy details: ghosts, skeletons, bats, spiders, skull candles, a gargoyle, a black cat and a mimic chest.

Scarecrows that come alive

Straw, Lantern and Harvest Scarecrows and Crow Keepers with their crows roam plains, forests and fields; Hollow Scarecrows lurk in dark forests and swamps. They appear all year, three times as often in October, and drop Halloween treats you can eat. The Black Feather Charm keeps crows off you and the Lantern-Light Jar makes every hostile mob nearby glow.

Bosses

• Harvest Scarecrow Giant (miniboss): stabs, lobs pumpkins and pounds the ground in plains and meadows. Drops the Pitchfork Charm (grows a crop one stage) and sometimes the King's Pumpkin.
• Elder Hollow (400 health): sleeps in dark forests. While someone looks at it, it freezes like a statue and projectiles can't hurt it; look away and it moves. Drops the Torn Sack Mask: wear it and Hollow Scarecrows ignore you.
• Grand Pumpkin King (500 health): three phases of sweeping strikes, falling pumpkins, charges and a Harvest Moon finale. Drops the Crown of Thorns, a crown you can wear.

Village graveyards and found treasure

About one new village in four grows a small graveyard (plains, taiga, snowy, desert and savanna). Graves placed by the world hide a find: mine one with a pickaxe for raw iron, nuggets or bones, and the grand tombs and angels always give raw iron plus a prize, about 1 in 5 a diamond. Graves you craft drop only themselves, so there is nothing to farm.

How to

Build a scarecrow guard

Fence post, a hay bale on it with a fence on each side as arms, and a head on top. The Straw Pumpkin Head makes a Straw Scarecrow, the Carved Pumpkin Lantern a Lantern Scarecrow, the Pumpkin Crate a Harvest Scarecrow and the Feather-Carved Pumpkin a Crow Keeper. Built scarecrows follow and defend you, never hit a player, let you sleep and stay in Peaceful. A cornstalk hay bale with dark oak fences builds a stronger one. Feed one a hay bale, wheat or a pumpkin to heal it; sneak and use an empty hand to let it go. Up to 8 per player. Careful: the Hollow Sack Head builds a Hollow Scarecrow that stays wild.

Build a Field Guardian

The same shape with a composter body, hay bale arms, an oak fence post and a Carved Melon head. It sends hostile mobs within 16 blocks running, helps nearby crops grow and naps instead of dying.

Summon the Grand Pumpkin King

Get the King's Pumpkin from a Harvest Scarecrow Giant (about 1 in 3 drop it). On flat ground lay a 3x3 floor of hay bales, stack three bone blocks on the middle and put the pumpkin on top. Needs Normal difficulty or harder.

Install it on both the client and the server.

Configuration

decorationx_halloween.properties: built scarecrows per player (default 8) and the Field Guardian's raider ward radius (default 0, so it never stalls a village raid; up to 16). The October boost and the treat chance of vanilla monsters are in the spawns file; boss camera shake, music, damage cap and rituals can be switched in the mobs file.

Config files are created in the config folder on the first launch: decorationx_halloween_mobs_client.properties, decorationx_halloween.properties, decorationx_halloween_mobs.properties, decorationx_halloween_spawns.properties.

FAQ

Forge? Quilt? Other versions?

Fabric and NeoForge on Minecraft 26.3 and 1.21.1 (Fabric needs Fabric API). No Forge. Quilt can usually load the Fabric file, but we only test Fabric and NeoForge.

Can I use it in a modpack?

Yes, in modpacks on Modrinth or CurseForge that download it from the official page.

Can I make videos with it?

Yes, videos, streams and reviews are welcome anywhere.

Server or client?

Both. Install it on the server and on every client.
