Fox's Weapons

Fox's Weapons

This mod adds 15 unique weapons to minecraft. If you don't see 15, that is likely because this mod is in beta/alpha phase with only a few weapons for my sanity

Fox's Weapons

Fox's Weapons is a NeoForge weapon mod for Minecraft 26.2 focused on weapons that actually have their own mechanics.

The finished base mod is planned to contain 15 unique weapons, divided across three progression tiers.

BUT THEN AGAIN I NEVER ACTUALLY PLANNED TO ADD STATUS EFFECTS.

Each weapon is intended to have its own playstyle, model, effects, and purpose instead of simply being another sword with a bigger damage number.

Current alpha: 0.8.0-alpha.1 — Withering Katana

⚠️ WARNING: THE GITHUB IS NOW OBSOLETE (APART FROM SOURCE CODE)

The GitHub repository is still used for source code and issue tracking, but project information there may be outdated.

Current weapon information and release updates will be kept primarily on Modrinth.

Currently Implemented Weapons

Volcano Hammer

A slow Tier 3 volcanic melee weapon.

  • Custom heavy swing animation
  • Right-click Volcano Smash
  • Creates a 3×3 fire ring with a safe center
  • Fire Resistance while held
  • Passive lava particles
  • 1200 durability
  • Repairable with Magma Cream
  • Mace-style enchantment direction

Blunderbuss

A Tier 2 close-range firearm.

  • Left-click: accurate single shot
  • Right-click: four-pellet blast
  • Uses Iron Nuggets as ammunition
  • 32-block maximum range
  • Muzzle flash
  • Smoke trails
  • Impact effects
  • Strong knockback
  • 450 durability
  • Repairable with Iron Ingots
  • Durability-compatible enchantments

Soul Reaper

A Tier 3 heavy vampiric scythe built around real vanilla critical hits.

  • Powerful slow melee attacks
  • Vanilla jump criticals trigger Soul Steal
  • Soul Steal adds 5 health points / 2.5 hearts of damage
  • Heals the wielder by up to 5 health points / 2.5 hearts when health is actually stolen
  • Soul particles travel from the victim toward the wielder
  • 1450 durability
  • Repairable with Diamonds
  • Spear-like melee enchantment direction

Tempest Bow

A Tier 3 storm-powered bow designed to be completely reasonable.

It is not completely reasonable.

  • Full-strength draw in 0.25 seconds / 5 ticks
  • Uses vanilla bow ammunition
  • Adds +14 Tempest damage
  • Summons real vanilla lightning at the exact impact point
  • Entity hit? Lightning.
  • Block hit? Lightning.
  • Ground hit? Lightning.
  • Missed the target? Still lightning.
  • 1000 durability
  • Repairable with Copper Ingots
  • Bow enchantment direction
  • Custom GeckoLib draw-and-release animation

Weighted Net

A Tier 1 ranged control weapon.

It deals zero direct damage.

  • Right-click to throw the bundled Weighted Net
  • Hitting a living target tethers it to the wielder
  • Targets can move normally within the rope's slack range
  • Moving too far away causes the target to be pulled back
  • The tether cannot break from distance
  • Right-click again to release the target
  • Releasing applies Rope Burns
  • Rope Burns temporarily reduces movement speed
  • Custom bundled 3D model
  • Custom thrown projectile
  • Visible rope/tether effect
  • Attach and release sounds

The Weighted Net is designed for mobility control rather than damage.

Sling Pocket

A Tier 1 primitive ranged weapon.

It is technologically advanced enough to contain:

wood, rubber, and rock.

  • Fires instantly with no charge-up
  • Uses stone-based ammunition from the player's inventory
  • Fires custom stone projectiles
  • Deals direct impact damage
  • Strong projectile knockback
  • Custom GeckoLib model and texture
  • Custom first-person positioning
  • Dedicated third-person player pose
  • Custom crafting recipe

And most importantly:

It can hit Endermen.

Yes.

This is intentional.

Apparently Endermen can dodge arrows, but do not know what to do when someone simply throws a rock at them very aggressively.

Iron Vanguard Shield

A Tier 2 defensive off-hand weapon.

It is designed around the revolutionary combat strategy of:

putting a large amount of wood and iron between yourself and the problem.

  • Hold right-click to block incoming attacks
  • Grants Resistance I while equipped in the off-hand
  • Can be used as a weak melee weapon
  • 600 durability
  • Repairable with Iron Ingots
  • Reinforced wooden construction with iron plating
  • Custom GeckoLib model and texture
  • Separate normal and blocking item poses
  • Custom tooltip
  • Custom crafting recipe

The current alpha pose may occasionally look less like the player is holding the shield and more like the shield has become structurally integrated into the player.

It still blocks.

This is considered acceptable alpha technology.

And no:

The FREESBEE™ mechanic is not implemented.

The shield cannot currently be thrown at someone's face.

That level of irresponsible shield engineering is being saved for a future release.

Withering Katana

A Tier 3 corrupted melee weapon for people who looked at a normal sword and decided it needed considerably more suffering.

  • Successful melee hits apply Wither II for approximately 4 seconds
  • 1250 durability
  • Repairable with Netherite Ingots
  • Enchantable
  • Custom GeckoLib model and texture
  • Dark steel blade with purple Wither corruption
  • Reverse-grip-inspired item positioning
  • Custom tooltip
  • Custom crafting recipe
  • Comes with an extremely necessary Naruto advancement

The weapon itself has learned how to hold a reverse grip.

The player's arm has not.

For now, Minecraft still uses the normal player arm pose.

This is Alpha Jank™.

It works.

That is currently considered sufficient evidence of engineering success.

Advancement / Extremely Important Anime Reference

NARUTOOOOOO

Obtained when the player gets the Withering Katana.

Wow... you've been yelling his name for like 5 arcs already. You've unlocked your inner Sasuke... just only the samurai part.

Yes.

This is now an actual advancement.

No.

We are not removing it.

Status Effects

Rope Burns

A custom effect introduced with the Weighted Net.

When a tethered target is released:

  • Rope Burns is applied
  • Movement speed is reduced
  • The effect lasts approximately 5 seconds

Yes, villagers trying to sprint away become considerably less enthusiastic after being untethered.

Wither

The Withering Katana applies vanilla Wither II for approximately 4 seconds after a successful melee strike.

The target is therefore encouraged to reconsider whatever decision caused them to stand within katana range.

Planned 15-Weapon Arsenal

The base mod is currently planned around the following progression.

🪵 Tier 1 — Tribal & Survival Skirmish

Early weapons built primarily around wood, flint, bone, leather, and simple materials.

1. Bone Shiv

A micro-dagger with terrible durability but extremely high attack speed.

Planned speciality:

  • Deals increased damage to zombies and skeletons

2. Flint Spear — CONCEPT UNDER REVIEW

Originally planned as a primitive reach weapon with approximately 1.5 blocks of additional attack reach.

There is, however, now a small problem:

Minecraft already has spears.

So the Flint Spear's mechanic — or possibly the weapon itself — is currently being reconsidered.

Alpha development remains extremely organised.

3. Sling Pocket ✅

IMPLEMENTED — 0.6.0-alpha.1

Originally planned as a simple cheap ranged weapon.

The implemented version:

  • Uses stone-based ammunition
  • Fires instantly
  • Has strong knockback
  • Uses custom stone projectiles
  • Has its own 3D model
  • Has a dedicated player pose
  • Can somehow hit Endermen

The Enderman interaction has been promoted from accident to feature.

4. Weighted Net ✅

IMPLEMENTED — 0.5.0-alpha.1

Originally conceived as a simple immobilising throwable, the implemented version evolved into a complete ranged tether system with Rope Burns.

5. Spiked Club

A heavy primitive club made from wood and flint.

Planned speciality:

  • Moderate melee damage
  • Brief Nausea effect on successful hits

There is currently a non-zero chance the model will resemble:

the silhouette of an Elder Guardian attached to a stick

🪙 Tier 2 — Faction & Tactical Warfare

Weapons centred around iron, gold, gunpowder, battlefield control, and organised combat.

6. Heavy Greatsword

A massive slow-swinging blade.

Or, technologically speaking:

a longsword with substantially more longsword

Planned speciality:

  • Sweeping attacks
  • Knocks enemies away within approximately a 3-block radius

7. Poisoned Needle

A rapid-fire blowdart weapon.

Its advanced visual design can currently be summarised as:

stick with green stuff

Planned speciality:

  • Extremely low direct damage
  • Applies stacking Poison

8. Blunderbuss ✅

IMPLEMENTED

A brutal close-range firearm with single-shot and four-pellet firing modes.

9. Iron Vanguard Shield ✅

IMPLEMENTED — 0.7.0-alpha.1

A defensive off-hand weapon built around blocking and passive protection.

The implemented version:

  • Blocks incoming attacks while being used
  • Grants Resistance I while equipped in the off-hand
  • Has 600 durability
  • Can perform weak melee attacks
  • Uses a custom reinforced wood-and-iron model
  • Has separate normal and blocking rendering states

Originally it was simply supposed to be:

shield + Resistance I

Development briefly attempted to turn it into:

THE AIRBORNE DISK OF LETHAL VELOCITY WOOD AND STEEL

That mechanic did not survive Alpha 7.

For now.

10. Smoke Bomb

A throwable escape tool.

The current modelling plan is essentially:

Weighted Net
minus three bobbers
plus smoke

Planned speciality:

  • Creates a large smoke cloud
  • Temporarily grants the thrower Invisibility

🔮 Tier 3 — Ancient & Mythic Arsenal

High-tier weapons built around diamonds, Netherite, rare drops, magic, and thoroughly questionable levels of power.

11. Soul Reaper ✅

IMPLEMENTED

A vampiric scythe centred around critical hits and stealing life from enemies.

12. Tempest Bow ✅

IMPLEMENTED

A lightning weapon that has substantially exceeded the restraint suggested by its original concept.

13. Volcano Hammer ✅

IMPLEMENTED

A volcanic demolition mallet capable of creating a ring of fire with Volcano Smash.

14. Ender Rapier / Staff

An ultra-mobile End-themed weapon.

Planned speciality:

  • Right-click teleport
  • Approximately 5 blocks forward in the player's looking direction
  • Floating/bobbing End-themed eye detail

There may eventually be a completely unrelated space-warping easter egg here.

KAMUI.

No further questions.

15. Withering Katana ✅

IMPLEMENTED — 0.8.0-alpha.1

A corrupted high-tier blade.

The implemented version:

  • Applies Wither II for approximately 4 seconds
  • Uses a custom GeckoLib model and texture
  • Has purple Wither corruption along the weapon
  • Uses reverse-grip-inspired positioning
  • Has 1250 durability
  • Is repairable with Netherite Ingots
  • Is enchantable
  • Has a custom tooltip
  • Has a crafting recipe
  • Unlocks the NARUTOOOOOO advancement when obtained

A more complete custom player attack pose may arrive later.

For now:

the katana knows it is Sasuke

Steve does not

Development Status

Fox's Weapons is currently in public alpha.

Current progress

8 completed weapons out of 15 planned

The mechanics listed for unreleased weapons represent their planned concepts and may evolve significantly during implementation.

Weighted Net is already a good example of this.

It started as:

throw net → Slowness

and somehow became:

UNBREAKABLE RANGED ROPE KIDNAPPING DEVICE

Sling Pocket started as:

cheap primitive projectile weapon

and somehow became:

THE THING ENDERMEN FORGOT TO DODGE

Iron Vanguard Shield started as:

normal defensive shield

and development briefly reached:

WHAT IF WE THROW THE SHIELD AT PEOPLE

Withering Katana started as:

blade + Wither II

and development almost immediately became:

NARUTOOOOOO

So yes.

Plans may change.

Known Alpha Jank

This is public alpha.

Some things are still held together by approximately three pixels and confidence.

Current examples include:

  • Sling Pocket off-hand alignment is slightly inaccurate in third person
  • Some weapon poses may not perfectly match their oversized custom models
  • Tempest Bow continues to behave visually like a portable siege weapon
  • Iron Vanguard Shield positioning may occasionally look more like wearing a reinforced door than holding one
  • Withering Katana uses reverse-grip-inspired item positioning while the player's arm currently remains in the normal Minecraft pose
  • Balance may change without warning

If something looks slightly cursed but still works:

there is a reasonable chance we already know.

Easter Eggs

The mod is gradually acquiring easter eggs.

The first confirmed victim is the Withering Katana, which unlocks:

NARUTOOOOOO

A suspicious percentage of future easter eggs may also involve Naruto.

This is not currently considered a problem.
