A data pack version of MoriyaShiine's Extra Origins mod, rebuilt on Overgrown's Apoli and Origins. It adds five origins to the origin layer: Floran, Truffle, Inchling, Piglin and Nucleon.
Not a fork
This is an independent, from-scratch implementation of the extra origins concept. It shares no code with any earlier mod of the same name and is built for Fabric 1.20.1, Fabric 1.21.1, and NeoForge 1.21.1.
The origins keep the mod's ids (extraorigins:floran and so on). Each origin's powers live in a folder named after the origin, and each file is named after the power, so Green Thumb is extraorigins:floran/green_thumb in data/extraorigins/powers/floran/green_thumb.json. The translations are the mod's, with the keys renamed to match.
Installing
The folder is both a data pack and a resource pack.
- Put it (or a zip of it) in the world's
datapacksfolder. - Put the same folder in
resourcepacksand enable it. This loads the origin and power names, the two sounds, the Magic Spores menu, the spore particles and the Homesick bar. Without it, players see raw translation keys and missing textures.

How the powers behave
-
Green Thumb: holding the primary key grows the plant you look at, as bone meal would. Each use costs 20 exhaustion, as much as five hunger points, and only when the block can grow.
-
Photosynthesis: in daylight under open sky you gain 1 hunger and 1 saturation every second. Natural regeneration is off. Instead you heal 1 health every 2 seconds while you have food, which costs a little exhaustion.
-
Absorbing: standing in water or rain gives you Strength.
-
Flammable: fire damage is doubled.
-
Nectarivore: honey bottles are the only food you can eat. Items in
#origins:ignore_dietare always allowed. -
Magic Spores: the primary key opens a menu with the three caps. Choosing one plays the spore sound, and the active cap trails spores of its color.
Cap Attack Speed and air speed Damage taken Blue (default) -25% +50% +25% Red +50% -12.5% +50% Green -12.5% -25% -25% -
Infestation: holding the secondary key turns the dirt-like block you look at into mycelium, for 10 exhaustion a use.
-
Rooted: with Blue Cap you jump higher while sprinting on mycelium and take no fall damage when you land next to mycelium. On mycelium, Red Cap adds 0.4 attack speed and Green Cap gives full knockback resistance.
-
Decomposition: food gives you no status effects. That includes golden apples and suspicious stew.
-
Bite Sized: you are a quarter of the normal size with a hitbox half as wide, have half the health, move a little slower, reach 0.25 blocks less for entities and 1.5 for blocks, jump with two thirds of the usual strength, and hostile mobs notice you from a quarter of the usual distance. A player who swings at you and misses still hits you when you are within a quarter block of their crosshair.
-
Nimble: no damage from falling, flying into walls, cactus, sweet berry bushes or thorns. Cobwebs, sweet berry bushes and powder snow don't slow you, and you can walk on powder snow.
-
Small Appetite: you get hungry at a quarter of the usual rate.
-
Jockey: the secondary key rides the mob or player you look at.
-
All That Glitters: golden armor gives 1 extra armor on the head and feet and 2 on the chest and legs, golden tools deal 2.5 extra damage, and a gold line in the tooltip shows each bonus. Golden armor lasts as if it had Unbreaking III, golden tools as if they had Unbreaking XV.
-
Crossbow Master: arrows from a crossbow deal 75% more damage.
-
Piglin Neutrality: piglins leave you alone even without gold, and opening chests or breaking gold near them doesn't anger them. Hit one and it fights back, along with the piglins that can see it. They stay hostile for 30 seconds after the last hit, then calm down. Piglin brutes still attack on sight.
-
Homesick: outside the Nether you count as undead, take no fire damage, have Weakness and shake. Eating golden food stops this for 3 minutes, shown on a bar.
-
Golden Gluttony: you can only eat meat, golden food and items in
#origins:ignore_diet. Golden food is anything in#extraorigins:piglin/golden_food, which includes#c:foods/goldenwhere it exists. -
Soul Spooked: soul fire, soul torches, soul lanterns and soul campfires within 8 blocks give you Weakness.
-
Radioactive: you hold three random powers. Each lasts 5 to 15 minutes and then turns into a new one, which flashes in the top left corner. Dying rerolls all three. Three bars, green, purple and gold, show the time each one has left.
How Piglin Neutrality works
Piglins don't attack anyone on their own scoreboard team, so the power uses a team called extraorigins.piglin.
- When you get the power and you aren't on a team, you join
extraorigins.piglin. Losing the power takes you off it again. - Once a second, piglins within 24 blocks that aren't on any team join it. That is farther than a piglin can spot you, so they are friendly before they see you.
- Hitting a piglin takes it off the team, together with the piglins on the team within 16 blocks that can see it, and marks each of them as provoked for 30 seconds (the hidden power
piglin/piglin_neutrality/provoked). Vanilla then makes them angry at you. A provoked piglin isn't taken back until the 30 seconds are over, and every new hit starts them again. - A piglin on the team that turns into a zombified piglin is taken off it the next time a Piglin player is nearby, so zombified piglins still fight back.
Notes and known differences
- Piglin Neutrality only works for a player who isn't already on another team. On a server that puts players on teams, the power does nothing for them, because a player can only be on one team. All Piglin players share the team, so piglins one of them befriends leave the others alone too, and a piglin one of them hits can also go after the other Piglin players until it calms down. The team is a normal scoreboard team, so it shows in
/team list. Unlike a default team, its members don't see each other while invisible. - Bite Sized gives other players a quarter block of leeway around the Inchling when they swing and miss. The mod kept the Inchling under an attacker's crosshair for 5 ticks after it moved away instead. The assist is the hidden power
inchling/bite_sized/delayed_hitbox, which every player gets throughdata/extraorigins/global_powers/players.json. It reacts only to the attack key, lands a normal attack with the attacker's weapon and cooldown, and leaves a swing that already hits an entity to vanilla. It skips an Inchling riding the attacker, or being ridden by them. - Magic Spores uses Apoli's radial menu: press the key and click a cap. The mod's menu worked by holding the key and leaning the mouse toward a cap for a second.
- Climbing is Origins' own Arachnid climbing, as the mod used Apace's. In Overgrown's Origins its toggle starts off, so the Inchling presses the primary key once to turn climbing on.
- Bite Sized uses the vanilla scale attribute on 1.21.1 and Apoli's scale on 1.20.1, where that attribute doesn't exist. Both give the same size and hitbox. Its reduced detection range applies to every mob that looks for the Inchling, where the mod only counted monsters, so slimes, phantoms and hoglins notice it later too.
- Homesick's fire immunity stops fire damage, but the Piglin can still look like it's burning.
- All That Glitters' tooltip lines sit below the item's lore rather than inside the "When on Head" section.
- If golden armor already has Unbreaking, it gets the strongest Unbreaking armor can have. The mod rolled its bonus separately from the armor's own enchantment, which a single level can't match for armor. Golden tools match the mod exactly either way.
- The Nucleon's impact is High. The mod added a fifth level, Very High, which Origins doesn't have.
- Nucleon draws its powers from a fixed list: every visible power in Origins and in this pack, minus the ones the mod left out (Phantom's hunger, invisibility, phantomize and phasing, Arachnid's webbing, spawn powers, Rooted and Radioactive itself). The mod picked from every power loaded, including other add-ons. The origin screen doesn't list the three current powers, as the mod's did.
- Radioactive's timers count down once a second.
