Fast Math — NeoForge

Fast Math — NeoForge is an unofficial NeoForge port of the original Fast Math Fabric mod (also known as Super Fast Math), created by EliasB.

Fast Math is a lightweight optimization mod focused on improving the performance of frequently executed mathematical operations in Minecraft. Instead of relying entirely on Java's standard math implementations, it replaces selected operations with optimized alternatives designed to reduce computational overhead while preserving Minecraft's expected behavior — no configuration required.

What Does It Optimize?

Fast Math targets mathematical operations that run extremely frequently throughout Minecraft's game loop.

Sine & Cosine — replaced with an optimized, dynamically initialized lookup table, cutting the cost of repeated trigonometric calculations used in entity movement, orientation, AI, and other game logic.

Square Root — uses a faster square-root implementation where applicable, reducing the overhead of repeated calculations.

Floor & Clamp — optimized implementations of these commonly used operations.

Entity Orientation — faster math benefits rotation and movement calculations.

The atan2 optimization has been reverted to exact mathematical behavior, to avoid potential projectile-angle inaccuracies.

Interpolation — lerp operations optimized using fused multiply-add where applicable.

BlockPos — optimized bit-packing for faster block/chunk coordinate encoding and decoding.

Client & Server

Fast Math works on both client and server. Server environments with heavy entity simulation or complex worlds may see reduced mathematical overhead, while clients also benefit from faster calculations during normal gameplay.

Zero Configuration

Install it and play. There are no config files or settings to tune — the optimizations apply automatically when Minecraft starts.

Compatibility

Fast Math is lightweight and designed to work alongside other performance and optimization mods, including Sodium, other rendering optimizations, server performance mods, and general gameplay mods.

Compatibility can still vary depending on Minecraft version, NeoForge version, and other installed mods. If you run into a crash or incompatibility, please report it with:
