A Townfolk NPC walking its route through a classroom

NPCs with a daily routine. They walk or fly between the waypoints you set, wear any gear you hand them, can be scaled up to 10 blocks tall, and more!

A day in their life

Every morning an NPC sets off on its route and visits each waypoint in order. It stays at each one as long as you choose and hangs out, then moves on to the next waypoint. At night it returns home (where it was first spawned) and sleeps in the nearest bed (or on the ground if none are available).

Build their schedule

The Townfolk schedule editor

Right-click an NPC to open its editor. Give it a name and a height from half a block to 10 blocks. Set its walking speed and add up to 32 waypoints. To set a waypoint, walk to the spot and crouch.

Pick their look

The Townfolk skin picker

Browse skins and spin the NPC preview. Minecraft's default skins are built in. Servers can add their own skins.

Take to the sky

NPCs take off when walking won't get them there. Put a waypoint in midair and they fly up and hover there. Mark a waypoint as "fastest" and they fly whenever it's faster than walking.

And more

  • Follow mode: use a lead on your NPC and it follows you on foot or through the air.
  • Gear: right-click the NPC with armor, an elytra, or any item to equip it or have it hold the item.
  • Indestructible: NPCs never despawn, and nothing can hurt them: not mobs, players, lava, cactus or falls. Only /kill and the void remove them.
  • Owner only: only the player who placed an NPC can edit or remove it.

Getting started

  1. Grab the Townfolk Summoner from the Spawn Eggs creative tab, or use /give @s townfolk:townfolk_summoner.
  2. Right-click a block to place your NPC. That block becomes its home.
  3. Pick a skin, name it, and add its first waypoint.

For server owners

Drop skin PNGs into the server's config/townfolk/skins/ folder and run /reload. Add _slim to the end of a file name for slim arms. To turn skin sources on or off, use config/townfolk.json:

{ "vanillaSkins": true, "packSkins": true, "folderSkins": true }
