Trading Floor Tile (boerse_floor)

A NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that recreates the black floor tiles from the trading floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange: a black tile with a ticker symbol on top and the company name below it. Whenever a trade happens, the label briefly lights up green (price up) or red (price down) and then fades back to white.

Usage

Action Result
Place the block The label reads in the direction you were facing while placing
Right-click (empty hand) Opens the GUI: ticker symbol, company, display size, simulated trades on/off
Redstone pulse Triggers exactly one trade (green/red at random)

Random stock on placement

Every freshly placed tile is automatically assigned a random stock from a list of real listed companies (472 of them: DAX 40, MDAX/SDAX/TecDAX and other German stocks, the US, France/Italy/Spain, Benelux, Switzerland/Austria, the UK, Northern Europe and Asia-Pacific). Stocks that already appear on another tile within 8 blocks are skipped, so a floor ends up covered in different companies (radius via uniqueStockRadius). As soon as you save a tile in the GUI, your input sticks and is never overwritten again.

2x2 display

Place it directly: the Trading Floor Display (2×2) item places all four tiles at once as a finished display and opens the GUI right away so you can label it. Recipe: 4 floor tiles in a square → 1 display item (and back: 1 display → 4 tiles).

Or convert afterwards: switch to 2×2 in the GUI. The tile you clicked becomes the master, and the three tiles to its right, behind it and diagonally (from the reading direction) join the display and stop showing their own text. The label is then drawn twice as large, centred across all four tiles, and the seam only runs around the outside of the display – on the inside the four tiles blend together seamlessly (blockstate corner). If one of the three neighbouring tiles is missing, the tile stays 1×1 and you get a note in the action bar.

Breaking: breaking any tile of a display removes all four at once and gives back one Trading Floor Display (2×2) (nothing in creative mode). Single tiles drop themselves as usual.

The block is called Trading Floor Tile and lives in the Stock Exchange creative tab as well as under Building Blocks. Mine it with a pickaxe.

GUI

  • Ticker symbol – max. 8 characters, automatically upper-cased (e.g. BMW, MBG, RWE)
  • Company name – max. 32 characters (e.g. BMW AG)
  • Display size – 1×1 (single tile) or 2×2 (four tiles)
  • Simulated trades – on: the tile trades on its own at a random interval of 5–30 seconds; every tile rolls independently, so they never blink in lockstep. Off: it only lights up on a redstone pulse

Enter saves, Escape discards.

Configuration

Gameplay — config/boerse_floor-common.toml

Evaluated by the server, so on a multiplayer setup this is the server's copy of the file.

Option Default Meaning
flashDurationTicks 18 How long the flash lasts
autoTradeMinDelayTicks 100 Shortest gap between simulated trades (5 s)
autoTradeMaxDelayTicks 600 Longest gap between simulated trades (30 s)
uniqueStockRadius 8 Radius in which no stock is handed out twice (0 = off)

Appearance for everyone — <world>/serverconfig/boerse_floor-server.toml

Lives in the world folder (on a dedicated server: world/serverconfig/). NeoForge syncs these values to every client on connect, so this is how a server prescribes one look for all players. Changes apply on the next join.

Option Default Meaning
enforceAppearance true On: the values below apply to everybody. Off: every player uses their own client config
tickerFontSizePercent 100 Font size of the ticker symbol, in percent (10–400)
companyFontSizePercent 100 Font size of the company name, in percent (10–400)
colorUp 22EE55 Colour when the price rises
colorDown FF3B30 Colour when the price falls
colorIdle FFFFFF Colour while idle

Personal appearance — config/boerse_floor-client.toml

Same five appearance options, read from each player's own game. They only take effect while the server has enforceAppearance = false.
